The California Real Estate Inspection Association (CREIA) is a voluntary, nonprofit public-benefit organization of real estate inspectors. Founded in 1976, CREIA provides education, training and support services to its members and the real estate community. CREIA's Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice are recognized by the California Business and Professions Codes and are considered the standard of care by the real estate industry and legal profession in the state. Certified CREIA Inspectors have successfully passed the proctored comprehensive written California Home Inspector Exam on the myriad of systems and components in the construction and maintenance of residential dwellings.
ITA offers the most complete home inspection training available, with licensed home inspection schools nationwide. Our specialty inspection classes offer specific training on the largest variety of inspection topics. In 1987, ITA founded North America’s first licensed home inspection school.

                       

Today. with over 10.000 members. FREA is the largest professional organization for appraisers and home inspectors in the country. FREA provides E&O insurance. education and other benefits to its members.
The International Code Council, a membership association dedicated to building safety and fire prevention, develops the codes used to construct residential and commercial buildings, including homes and schools. Most U.S. cities, counties and states that adopt codes choose the International Codes developed by the ICC.  All of the codes are subject to interpretation by the local building department and only they can grant a determination of  "code compliance".  However, home inspectors rely on knowledge of the codes to identify material defects and health and safety issues in the inspection of a property.  

John is certified by the ICC as a Residential Combination Inspector.  This classification is a combination of four individual certifications in Building inspection, Electrical inspection, Mechanical inspection, and Plumbing inspection.  As a result, he has earned the designation CREIA New Construction Specialist (CNCS). John McGibbon is the only CNCS in Santa Barbara County .
